Well, it's Sunday night - and that means that the weekend laziness comes to an end tomorrow! Although actually, with my boys on summer vacation from school, our regular schedule is kind of out the window, too! Not such a bad thing, actually. Aside from the usual chores, it's nice to be able to do what we want, when we want (except for my hubby, who still has to go to work Monday - Friday!)
Yesterday I had a wonderful dinner with my BFF - celebrating her birthday! My oldest son went to a 'Slash' concert (he's the guitarist for Guns 'n' Roses) which he enjoyed immensely. We dropped him off and picked him up, as it was downtown Vancouver, and even though he is 17, I'm still 'protective'!
Anyway - I promised to share with you the card that I made for my friend's birthday - here it is, a special tri shutter fold card! This is how the card looks open:
I just love this style of card - it's a great 'WOW' card, that isn't all that difficult to make.
I used the tutorial for it ,made by a fellow demonstrator named LeAnn Greff - you can check out her great website at www.flowerbug.typepad.com
Basically, you start with a base cardstock of 5 ½" X 12". Score on the long side at 2", 4", 8" & 10". Next you’ll need to cut the slits along the horizontal or long sides. Using a Fiskars type paper cutter (or a ruler and exacto knife) insert the card stock to cut it 1 ¼" from the edge cutting from the 2" mark to the 10" mark. Do this for the opposite side too. Now make the folds as in the picture. You can adhere your choices of DSP and embellishments as shown. Here, I used the new 'Floral District' designer series paper on each end and the middle sections (bottom & top) and for the butterflies (die cut using the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die). The stamps are the large main flower you may recognize from 'Betsy's Blossoms', and I coloured, stamped and punched the 2 end butterflies using the new 'Papillon Potpourri' stamp set and 'Elegant Butterfly' punch. The sentiments are from a retired Birthday set. You can see I sponged the edges of the Whisper White cardstock with the sentiments with the new Raspberry Ripple ink, also used to stamp the sentiments.
Here's how the card looks closed - so it does fit into our standard A2 card envelopes.
Well, that's it for tonight. Tomorrow I'll show you the 2 cute gift card holders I made!
I hope you like the card as much as my friend did! If you make one yourself, I'd love to see a picture of it - I could even post it here for you! :) Send me a copy, along with your contact info to stampandcreate@shaw.ca I look forward to seeing your creations!
Until tomorrow,
Happy Stamping!

I'm Back - with New Creations!
Hello Stampers!!
I know - I've been gone for over a month, and I'm reaaaally sorry! I have to admit - I was in a bit of a creative slump, then was busy with family visiting from Scotland - but now I'm back, and with NEW creations with NEW fabulous Stampin' Up! products!
Before I show you my first new card, I just want to remind you of the great new Hostess Benefits (posted below) if you hold a party with me. Don't want to call it a "party"? Call it a "private class"!! Invite your friends, offer some basic refreshments (juice/tea/coffee with cookies, perhaps), and I'll provide the entertainment (I've been told I have a good sense of humour!), and the great project to make with the latest Stampin' Up! stamps, colours and cardstocks. And if your friends place a total qualifiying order , you as Hostess get the benefits!
Send me an email at debsmart@shaw.ca , or a call at 604 298 0472 to set up your party/private class today!
Here's one the new stamp sets I've been lovin' -
This great new set is called "Happy Hour", and is perfect for all kinds of celebrations - Birthday, Wedding, Congratulations - it even has a Christmas/New Year's sentiment stamp!
Recipe: Base - Very Vanilla cardstock First Layer - Old Olive cardstock 1st Panel - Cherry Cobler cardstock 2nd Panel - Floral District DSP (item#126919 pg.163) Inks: Summer Starfruit (ink pad and marker), Midnight Muse (ink pad & marker), Raspberry Ripple (ink pad & marker).
I stamped the '3 Cheers for You' sentiment in Raspberry Ripple on a scrap of WW c/s, then cut the ends to look like a banner, and popped it, and the drink glasses, up with dimensionals.
Here's what you get in the "Happy Hour" set (item #126640 wood $36.95 or #126642 clear $26.95)

I just know that you'll fall in love with the new 'In Colours', as I have! Let me know what you think - do you have a favourite new colour? I love to hear your opinion!
I've been creating more, so I promise to post another new card again tomorrow.
Until then
~Happy Stamping!
